"Q" Week, Quilts, Queens and Quarterbacks!

Week of February 4th

Sound of the Week - Q
Book of the Week - The Quilt Story by Tony Johnston illustrated by Tomie Depaola
Habit - Self-Control (we are sticking with this habit another week or so)
Moms of the Month - Kelly Gordon and Meredith Couey

Reenrollment registration is due on Monday, February 4th.  All enrollment can be done online.  There is a late charge for those that are not received by this date.

Also, please send a jacket each day with your child based on the morning temperature.  We go outside around 10 a.m. and the area around playground is shaded.

Sight Words - As we discussed in the Parent Meeting on Tuesday night, we will send home our sight words of the week so that parents may create flash cards or make a wall chart.  Please see the sight words for this week in the photos to the right.  Michael and Thomas are holding this and is.

We continue another awesome week in Kindergarten with a wonderful book, The Quilt Story, written by Tony Johnston and beautifully illustrated by Tomie Depaola.  If you have any family quilts that you would be comfortable sending in, please do.  Just email or text us to let us the quilt is coming.  If possible, send a little background information about the quilt.  We will have your child share about his/her family quilt but can guide them with questions with the information that you send.

Poetry Recital, February 26th - your child will bring home his/her 2 nursery rhymes this week.  Please begin practicing at home and in the car.

Also, see special photos from last week's, "O" week.  We enjoyed having Zoe's grandmother to read on Wednesday! The kids enjoyed our hotdog "Octopi" over macaroni and cheese "sea weed" for our special event - thanks Kelly Porter for your creative cooking.  The students also learned and applied as they made "Little Red Lighthouses" and built the Great Gray Bridge on Thursday after snack.
