"S" Week with "Max and the Steam Shovel"

Week of October 8-11
Sound of the Week and Book of the Week - "S" and Max and the Steam Shovel
Mom of the Month - Alex Holck and Samantha Griggs

A huge thanks to Kelly Gordon, Sandra Jones, Kelly Porter and Alex Holck for a great
Service Project Day.  The children were in great hands and we know the fireman felt very
loved and appreciated!  Hoping to post pictures later this week.  Please send.

We enjoyed Cynthia Rylant's book When I Was Young in the Mountains last week.  It was so
special to have Patty Green, Walker's grandmother, come and read this book and then tell
us about how things have changed since she was young.  The kids were very interested to
hear that there were no TVs and cell phones years ago.  (see photo)

This Week will include sponge painting, scribble art, Marching to Sousa (our kindergarten
composer), slithering, stomping, swaying, skipping, swinging and many other great S activities.

This weeks book, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, is another outstanding Caldecott
award winner.  Be sure to check out ALL of Virginia Lee Burton's books.

We have returned from Chattanooga where we attended a Childlight - Charlotte Mason
Conference feeling very inspired to continue the wonderful Mason-based experiences
that our school encourages.
Email for Conference Sign up preceded this blog update.  Look forward to meeting with you.
